All animals, including humans have a brain that’s
important for their life control. But if both have brains, what makes the man different
from the animal? Man’s life concentrates around utilizing and developing their intelligence,
whereas animals focus on their instinct. Instinct is the natural reaction of
the animal without further though or learning which remains stable, while intelligence
is all the time developing to make man able to adapt to different situations. “Intelligence
isn’t a set thing. The level of intelligence human is born with is only a
starting point and regardless of genetic makeup” said Philippe Drolet in his
book “On Becoming superman” on 2012, and by that he meant that intelligent can’t
be constant and is always rising despite of the man’s ancestors or their level
once birth. So, how to widen students’ abilities? “One should not pursue goals
that are easily achieved. One must develop an instinct for what one can just
barely achieve through one's greatest efforts.”- Albert Einstein. He ensured
the must of growing students’ mentality. The brain can be improved depending on
how students use it. If a brain is exercised properly, anyone can grow intelligence
at any age and potentially by a lot, or the brain will remain idle. It’s
somehow possible to establish human’s mental powers and for that to happen,
humans should approach several tracks in order to help the brain become
sharper, smarter and faster.
Basically, well sleeping is essential to keep students’
brain attentive and smarter. To improve creative thinking and memory
performance, students need relaxation for 7-8 hours of sleep per day. It’s
reported that during sleep, the brain firms up memories of recently acquired
information. In addition, taking a nap throughout the day refreshes the brain.
When the brain absorbs information after learning something new or memorizing,
a nap can help in retaining the information as well as recharging the brain and
keeping it sharper longer.
In addition to sleep optimization, brain
teasers can inspire students’ brain too. Teachers have to think of brain as
both computers and muscles. Some studies show that doing brain teasers can actually
help to keep the mind more fit. So, teachers can train brains regularly by mind
games such as word puzzles, chess, riddles or even video games, because mind
games challenge, boost students’ brain and force them to think outside the box,
analyze, calculate, and work with their ability to think strategically and
logically. When students are allowed to play a riddle, they will be able to
work in an orderly manner where they focus on each part of the riddle and come
up with an answer that matches with the entire riddle itself. They will learn
to interpret directions better and think in different ways as well as different
perspectives.
The 3rd way to improve students’
brain is exercises. Walking strengthens bones, swimming improves the heart and
doing yoga makes one more flexible, but researches show that these activities
could also boost brain power. On the 1st side, physical exercises
start a chain reaction that improves brain health and helps students’ brain
stay sharp because it increases oxygen to the brain and reduces risk for
disorder that lead to memory loss. Most importantly, it plays an important role
by boosting the growth of new neurons that activates genes involved in
cognition and raises brain’s activity. Scientists found that old people who are
not physically active are more likely to have cognitive problems.
Thus by well sleeping, brainstorming and exercising
student’s brain will always be creative and function properly. Because brains
are wired to be inspired, fostering creativity and innovation to treat
difficult and multidimensional problems to overcome obstacles will result in a
successful future. "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For
knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world,
stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution."-Albert Einstein, You may
not be able to measure your students’ mind power but it’s evident that as a
teacher you can sharpen their brain and boost its intelligence through
encouraging well sleep, regular exercises and brain teasers.
